If you’re not sure what your travel plans are for the NMRA Convention next week, maybe you should consider riding to Milwaukee in the newly refurbished Super Dome and Skytop passenger cars. These vintage rail cars will be traveling from the Twin Cities to Chicago, and then to Milwaukee. This will be a wonderful and unique experience for any train lover! Some of the SIGs will hold their activities in the same city and during the same week as the NMRA. These activities have separate registration fees. Below are some of the SIGs that will be in Milwaukee in 2010.
- The Layout Design SIG, http://macrodyn.com/ldsig. This group aids other LDSIG members in designing and creating layouts.
- The Operations SIG, http://www.opsig.org. This group focuses on realistic prototypical operation.
For further information contact:
- Railroad Industries SIG, http://www.trainweb.org/rrisig. This SIG concentrates on developing a deeper understanding of the history and operations of the industries that are served by the railroads. This information helps to understand and replicate prototypical operation on model railroads and to construct prototypically accurate models. The SIG publishes a quarterly newsletter, Lineside.
For further information consult:
- National Association S-Gaugers, http://www.nasg.org. The NASG SIG will be having informal gatherings which will be posted on the

- Railroad Prototype Modelers, http://railroadprototypemodelers.com. RPM was originally formed as the Modern Prototype Modelers and was started at the Milwaukee NMRA Convention in 1985 by a handful of dedicated modelers and manufacturers.
One of the founding members of the group Joe DElia, Jr. of Proto Power West/A-line renamed the group RPM to include all eras of prototype modeling. One of the main goals of RPM was to promote prototype modeling and share our passion.
From these early beginnings the RPM movement has sparked many excellent prototype modeling meets around the world.
RPM has also had a profound effect on the hobby and the caliber of models being manufactured today.Modelers of all roads, scales and eras are invited to join us in 2010 at this our 25th Anniversary Reunion of RPM. Bring your models so all can enjoy and share.
